Deadlines:

The deadline to submit your application for the 4th round of the Equipment Grant Program is December 19, 2008.

Program Description

The Province of B.C. through the Ministry of Education has provided Skills Canada BC (SCBC) with $3 million to benefit secondary school students in ACE IT Industry Training Programs through one-time grants toward the purchase of equipment. In addition, the Equipment Grant Program is intended to improve the overall environment for industry training in B.C. schools.

These grants contribute to the initial cost of purchasing new skilled trades training equipment, or upgrading existing equipment.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are B.C. school districts with schools that are currently offering ACE IT (Accelerated Credit Enrolment in Industry Training) or those intending to offer ACE IT programs.

School districts applying on behalf of district schools must have an approved ACE IT (or a pending application contingent on the purchase of the equipment for ACE IT program approval with the Industry Training Authority)

School districts are eligible to apply for more than one grant. The grant adjudication committee will endeavor to fund all eligible applications, while fostering programs in each of the 12 SCBC regions.

Successful applicants will have demonstrated:

1. Equipment will increase capacity to deliver Ace It programming within the district.

2. Details of in – Kind support or matching funding for requested Ace It equipment.

3. Details of what your district does to promote trades awareness within the district – i.e. “In class presentations, trades awareness day etc.”

Restrictions

School districts are eligible to apply for more than one grant. Preference will be given to first time applicants.
