The goal of this bursary is to reduce the barriers for First Nation/Aboriginal students entering foundation trades programs.
A one time contribution of $300,000 was given to Skills BC by the Industry Training Authority (ITA) to distribute to Aboriginal students in need, for the purpose of entering into a college Foundation Trades Program.
The funding will be made available to students through application to their participating college.
The bursary is limited to the cost of tuition, text books and personal safety equipment that is required by the Foundation Program.
Guidelines:
Our requirements are the following: The student must be Aboriginal. Proof of financial need determined by the College. A maximum of $5,000 may be applied for, per student. The bursary is limited to covering tuition expense for the Foundation Trades training, text books and personal safety equipment. Need to provide student's contact information and proof of eligibility by providing their Aboriginal status to Skills Canada BC.
The student applies through the
college.
